Con el Metro aún cerrado y las arcas públicas sangrando, ya hay otro proyecto en el horizonte: el tranvía será una realidad antes de cuatro años. El nuevo transporte eléctrico costará 300 millones de euros, justo la mitad del Convenio Ferroviario que el Govern aún está pendiente de firmar con el Estado. "El tranvía es una prioridad", asegura el regidor de Transportes del Ayuntamiento de Palma, Joanquín Rodríguez, durante un viaje a Basilea y Orleans realizado junto al director general de Transportes del Govern, Antoni Verger, para estudiar los sistemas de tranvía de estas dos ciudades. Ambas instituciones (Govern y Ayuntamiento) "colaborarán estrechamente para la implantación del tranvía", incluso barajan "la posibilidad de que la explotación del servicio sea mixta, junto a una empresa privada a la que se le da
